HO GP16 Locomotive - South Central Florida

The GP16 locomotive is the result of a program begun by the Seaboard Coast Line railroad to remanufacture aging GP7/9/18 locomotives at their Uceta Shops near Tampa, Florida.  Begun in 1979, a total of 155 locomotives were completed with the last unit rolling out of the shop in November of 1982.  The locomotives were reworked from the ground up utilizing new components as well as those remanufactured at SCL facilities in Waycross, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida.

These versatile locomotives were used in a variety of duties from yard switching to running mainline trains throughout the SCL system.  Most remained active until 1992, when the bulk of the roster was retired and sold-off to regionals, shortlines, and a variety of industries where many remain in service today.

InterMountain Railways Company's all newly tooled GP16 will feature:

• Finely molded parts to represent railroad specific details
• Factory equipped with either ESU LokSound® sound DCC decoder or ESU LokPilot® non-sound DCC decoder.  Optional DC only plug available upon request.
